In theory, the "light getting brighter" concept implies that, as focus on a particular verse progresses, the explanation would progress from the more ambiguous to the more defined, or specific... in most instances ... as in the current "overlapping generation" it's quite the contrary: the older explanation is supplanted by a more vague one. ...

The Makeweight Scenario - my way of explaining the increasing light doctrine
by cedars inmany of you will remember when i first joined this forum i shared some reasoning with you related to "increasing light" and the logic that led to my personally abandoning it as an explanation for why the society repeatedly makes errors and failed predictions in its publications.
i call it the "makeweight" scenario, and one or two have asked if i can launch a new thread for the benefit of new ones who may not have heard of it before.. i explain things on my latest blog article on the link below, but for those who would like to read just the part about the makeweight scenario, here is the part of my blog article that discusses the concept of increased light (slightly edited to separate it from the article).. is the light getting brighter?.
we are constantly informed in the society's publications that any errors in books or magazines from years gone by are due to the light getting brighter.

Evidence For Impending Change Re: "Loose Conduct" to "Brazen Conduct"
by DarioKehl inon another thread discussing possible changes to the nwt, the post refered to a 2nd-hand report of a co leaking possible changes to 5 verses where "loose conduct" would be replaced by "brazen conduct.
" although it is merely speculative at this point, i would like to remind those of you who did attend the 2012 dc this summer about some important evidence that supports this theory.
if the program is still available on jw.org, feel free to see this for yourselves.

I knew Bob Lang quite well-- I reported to him in my work assignment at Bethel, and thought him be a decent, considerate person.. above average for a Bethelite with a senior job, at least

Moshe received proof of a spiritual afterlife in 1999
by moshe ini have posted this experience of mine before- it's time to resurrect it again.. in 1999 i was in bed asleep and i had a dream- my father and i were shoping at a clothing store called fazios, that i hadn't been inside since i was a boy (closed for many years).
we were looking at some denim overhalls and in walks my mother and brother ( she died in 1991 and my brother had died five months previously).
they told my dad, it's time to go.

Ah, those JWs, they sure do a masterful job of whittling the "Majestic Lord God Of Hosts, Architect, Creator and Sustainer Of All That Exists" down to size!

Aid Book Vs. Insight On The Scriptures: Compare and Contrast, Anyone?
by Room 215 init appears that most of the substantive information in the insight volumes is lifted directly from its predecessor; my questions: what accounts for its immense increase in size?
(i don't have the stamina or patience to make the comparision) i suspect that one reason for it was to distance its content from the main authors of the aid book, i.e.
ray franz, ed dunlap and several others who defected in the 1980s, as their contributions to the latter became more or less general knowledge in wt circles..

A little example of how severely the contributions for the Society are drying up
by sir82 injust a little tidbit from the congregation i attend..... the congregation has approximately 120 publishers.. well over 1000 magazines per month are picked up, not to mention all the books, brochures, and tracts that are picked up.. there was a "local needs" part on the service meeting recently, asking for more contributions.. it seems our congregation has averaged just about $300 per month contributions to the "worldwide work" over the past year.. .
assuming 1500 magazines / month, that's just 20 cents per magazine - and that completely ignores all other literature that is picked up.. the last price the magazines had, 20+ years ago, was 25 cents per issue.
with inflation that would have been about 50 cents each now.. just another sign of how severely the contriutions to the society are drying up..... .

$3 per week per publisher... no way! I have a total of 12 regular attenders in my immediate family--- that's $36 PER WEEK or more than $1800 a year in contributions.... as I said, NO WAY!
